Qualification Training Courses
Our Qualification Training courses are four-days long and are the perfect option for anyone looking at dry stone walling as a career or broadening their skill set. Run at our National Training Site in Cumbria, these popular courses are designed for those looking at undertaking their Level 1 or Level 2 Lantra accredited qualifications.
If you are not looking at qualification but would like to attend an intensive training course then please refer to our 4-day training courses.
Led by a Master Craftsman Instructor, this course takes participants through the knowledge and skills required to undertake their Level 1 qualifications.
Over the course of the four days, participants will be guided through
- Health & Safety
- Stripping out a wall
- Setting of frames & lines
- Preparing and laying foundations
- Building first lift of the wall
- Placement of through stones
- Building the second lift of the wall
- Placement of copestones
Those candidates looking at undertaking their Level 2 will also be able to gather insights from the Instructor on how to improve their building of a cheekend/wall head.

Duration: 4 days, Monday – Thursday
Course size: Our four-day courses are limited to 10 participants per course
Equipment list: Participants must ensure they have safety footwear/steel toe caps. DSWA provides work gloves and tools although participants are encouraged to bring their own if they have them

It is strongly advised that those booking this course have undertaken some dry stone walling before such as a Beginners Course.
