4-day Intensive Training Courses
Our 4-day Intensive Training courses are the ideal option for anyone wanting to learn how to dry stone wall and practise their skills. Run at our National Training Site in Cumbria, these popular courses are designed for those wanting to learn the skill for their own use such as through volunteering roles or garden projects.

Led by a Master Craftsman Instructor, these intensive courses take participants through the knowledge and skills required to build a dry stone wall.
Over the course of the four days, participants will be guided through
- Health & Safety
- Stripping out a wall
- Setting of frames & lines
- Preparing and laying foundations
- Building first lift of the wall
- Placement of through stones
- Building the second lift of the wall
- Placement of copestones

Course fee: £400
Location: National training Site, Crooklands, Cumbria
Duration: 4 days, Monday – Thursday
Course size: Our four-day courses are limited to 10 participants per course
Equipment list: Participants must ensure they have safety footwear/steel toe caps. DSWA provides work gloves and tools although participants are encouraged to bring their own if they have them

It is strongly advised that those booking this course have undertaken some dry stone walling before such as a Beginners Course.
