Following the success of last year’s event the DSWA Summer Fete will be hosted by the Derbyshire Branch on 13th & 14th June at The Nightingale Centre, Great Hucklow, raising awareness for our craft and Prostate Cancer.
All members, family and friends are invited to enjoy a fun packed weekend of entertainment, activities, competitions, craft displays, and delicious food and drink.
As well as dry stone walling, traditional crafts such as blacksmithing, wood turning, leather craft, basket making, jewellery, wool spinning and stone carving will be showcased, and you can have a go!
On Saturday 13th we have the Derbyshire Open, a walling competition with great cash prizes, for all abilities, part of the DSWA British Grand Prix. Entry is free, the classes are Professional, Amateur and Veteran, for details and entry contact drystonewallinggrandprix@gmail.com
We will be entertained during the day by morris dancers, a brass band and a local folk singer and musician. Artisan wood fired pizza, homemade cakes, tea and coffee, ice cream, and a bar will keep you fed and watered.
Other attractions include a walling skills class, talks, plant sale, welly wanging, kids activities, tombola, and a display of Porsche cars on Sunday.
On Saturday evening there will be whisky tasting, a delicious 2 course meal, awards, and a live band after dinner with wine and local Eyam beer available at the bar.
