DSWA PHOTOGRAPHIC COMPETITION

2003

Calling all members!

DSWA’s officers have decided to hold a photographic competition again this year
following its success three years ago.

  1. The competition will only be open to FULLY paid-up members of the DSWA. Please check
     and make sure you are a member! If you do not get your own copy of W&D you are not!

  2. By entering you will agree to allow the DSWA to publish or use the material in its future
    publications if it sees fit though it acknowledges that the photographer retains the copyright
    of the image. Hence members may only enter material to which they hold the copyright

  3. There will be 3 classes of entry.

    1. a) The most unusual structure/object built into a dry stone wall or dyke;

      b) The best landscape view with dry stone walls/dykes, and/or field patterns
      with walls/dykes;

      c) Wildlife or farm stock making best use of a dry stone wall or dyke.

  4. Material submitted for previous competitions is not acceptable.

  5. All entries must relate to dry stone walling/dyking (taken to include Galloway dykes and
    Cornish hedges).

  6. All entries must be submitted as prints (colour or black and white) no smaller than 6"x4" and
    no larger than 9" x 6". Each must have the sender’s name and address on the reverse together
    with a suggested caption and the class of entry.

  7. Photographs will only be returned if accompanied by a stamped and self-addressed envelope
    of appropriate size and carrying appropriate postage. While every care will be taken to do
    this, no responsibility will be accepted by the DSWA, or those acting for it, for any damage
    or non-return of entries.

  8. Members may submit as many entries as they like in each category. Indecent or offensive
    photographs will be disqualified.

  9. The winner in each class will be the member who in the view of the judges has provided the
    most appropriate photograph relating to walling/dyking.

  10. The decision of the judges will be final and no correspondence will be entered into with regard
    to their decisions.

  11. There will be a panel of three judges approved by Management Committee for the purpose.

  12. Entries must be received by 19th September 2003 and sent to:
